About this deal

The conversations/flirty banter between them made me feel like I was back in middle school (but in a good way lol) even though they were 17. I loved that they also had multiple random meetings over the years before they even really got to know each other. Soon, what Charlie was hoping to avoid becomes a reality as Bailey starts to see him as not only a friend she can rely on in the midst of family drama—but someone who makes her hands shake and heart race. It's rare that I plow through a book and almost devour it, but in this case, I couldn't help myself. chill the fuck out, really fucking cute, loud as fuck, for fuck's sake, fucking chump, fuck me, and more!

let me just state that i miss the old meet-cutes; childhood best friends, you spill coffee on me and then 20 years later we're force-feeding that same coffee to our 10 year old, that shit yk? Charlie is a bit of a cynic who believes that girls and guys can't just be friends, and Bailey just wishes that Charlie would shut up on a 10 hour flight from Alaska.

I know I’ve sounded super down on this, but there were times I thought Charlie and Bailey had such cute interactions and were really great for each other.

This one featured kids of divorced parents + great anxiety rep in a male character, both of which were really well done. Better than the movies is one of the sweetest YA romances and I went into this one expecting the same, but honestly. A few years later, Bailey and Charlie end up being co-workers at a hotel waterpark where they transition from co-workers to 'friends' to.But the more we get into the book, with Bailey trying to sabotage the relationship, the more I realised that Scott shouldn’t have been the recipient of her frustration. for someone who is literally constantly looking for even one comfort read in this cold, cold world, and for someone who constantly hates all of them, this was huge. i also felt like there were a couple missing strings - i wish bailey and her parents further talked out their issues. But they didn't talk that way around parents and in situations where it wouldn't be appropriate, so in that sense it felt pretty realistic. From witty repartee to swoon worthy kisses and THAT PERFECT NON-DATE SCENE THAT HAD ME IN FULL ON KICKING GIGGLING MODE, I WAS ENAMORED IMMEDIATELY.
