About this deal

The approach adopted here was a lot more commercial and the end result is a more streamlined Magnum sound. Queen is one of my all-time favourite bands, and I'm sure that fans of 80's Queen will like this music.

Language - Regardless of country of origin all tracks are sung in English, unless otherwise stated in our description. The 103 third parties who use cookies on this service do so for their purposes of displaying and measuring personalized ads, generating audience insights, and developing and improving products. I've read quite a few reviews who depend their rating whether the album (or artist) is prog and rate it down if not.

I initially gave only one star to this album, but I have now upgraded my rating to a more fair two stars. those who ventures in this kind of music, for classical trained prog listner this one might be a desaster.Gracenote bizarrely categorizes this as 'Metal' (whereas even AC/DC and Led Zeppelin are tagged 'Rock') but who cares? The feel of the album is entirely different from On A Storyteller's Night; lighter, streamlined, as I said, but not without substance. Vigilante was the first Magnum album I bought (still on vinyl back in 1991 as I didn't have a CD player then) and I still believe it is their best one.

The album was produced by Roger Taylor of Queen and the sound of the album is very much of its time. Irrespective of the source, all of our collectables meet our strict grading and are 100% guaranteed. I don't give many five-star reviews, but Vigilante gets one because it's proof that there was good music being made even in the Thatcherite taste desert that was Britain in 1986. Vigilante" e' quel disco che ti fa assaporare il classico Rock fatto di chitarre possenti ma mielosee da atmosferiche tastiere che rendono tutto magico.

Only nine tracks but very much quality rather than quantity I found this album utterly absorbing from start to finish. From the breathy, synthy opening of Lonely Night to the ecstatic, drum-clattering coda of Back Street Kid, these are just nine top-notch songs given the best glossy, mid-80s production values by the skilled hand of Roger Taylor. Three singles were released to promote the album, "Lonely Night", "Midnight (You Won't Be Sleeping)" and "When the World Comes Down".

While the band had wanted Rodney Matthews to paint the artwork, the record company chose a different cover against the band's wishes. While I have always liked the title track, I initially dismissed the rest of the album as too poppy and simplistic. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. There's truly not a bad track here, and different ones emerge as favourites each time I play it - currently it's Midnight, for its risky but perfectly judged saxophone climax, and Holy Rider, for that boomy, epic soundscape that prefigures what the Killers created in Sam's Town.
